Ludhiana: The police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested three men with a country-made .32 bore pistol and two live cartridges.
Aajmer Singh, Manpreet Singh and Veer Rajwinder Singh are residents of Deeva Mander village of Payal tehsil.

Focal Point police station SHO inspector Amandeep Singh Brar said, “A check-post was set up at Yard Chowk of Focal Point on Tuesday evening. The three, who were on a motorcycle, were stopped for checking. During frisking, a weapon and two live cartridges were recovered from them.”

During questioning, Ajmer revealed that he had bought the weapon and cartridges from another truck driver Vaneet of Delhi for Rs 55,000 a fortnight ago. “The accused confessed to have bought the weapon to commit robberies. All three are truck drivers and wanted to make easy buck by entering the world of crime. They have no criminal background.”

A case has been registered under the Arms Act.
