RAJKOT: , , were caught red-handed by anti-corruption bureau officials, while the accused were accepting bribes on Friday.
In Bhuj, Sanjay Mota, a senior clerk in Kutch district panchayat’s irrigation department was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 78,000. “The accused demanded the bribe in order to pass the bills of three ponds that the complainant had constructed. He wanted three per cent of the bills’ amount, following which, the complainant approached the ACB. The complainant was told to call Mota outside the Kutch district panchayat office to collect his money, when ACB officials caught him in the act red-handed,” said K H Gohel, deputy superintendent of police, Kutch, ACB.
In Rajkot, the bailiff of Rajkot Civil Court, was caught accepting Rs 1,000 as bribe. “The accused, identified as Dilip Koli, had demanded the amount to serve a notice against his landlord. Following the complainant’s case against his landlord, the court had issued a notice against the landlord. Koli wanted the amount to serve the court notice,” said C J Sureja, inspector of Rajkot ACB.
