BHUBANESWAR: Two more persons, including a teacher, were on Sunday arrested from for their alleged role in circulating the paper of matric examination on social media on Friday. This takes the total number of arrests to seven.
Police had on Saturday arrested five persons in connection with the paper ‘leak‘. This apart, the government has suspended 11 teachers for circulating the question paper on social media.
Nuapada SP Parmar Smit Parshottamdas has identified the ones arrested on Saturday as Sarbagnya Supkar, a teacher of Kerapadar high school, and his nephew Gyanadutta of Ranimunda under Sinapali police station in the district.
“With the help of his uncle, Gyanadutta had entered Karangamal high school and took photograph of the question paper on Friday. Later, he forwarded it to others,” he added.
Police sources said Sarbagnya had gone to Karangamal high school to help the students appearing for the examination from his school. “He had taken his nephew along with him to the school to take photos of the question paper. Both Sarbagnya and centre superintendent of Karangamal high school had hatched the plot,” said an investigation officer at Boden police station.
The centre superintendent and two invigilators of Karangamal high school were among the ones arrested on Saturday. Besides, the invigilator and the centre superintendent of Gopinath high school at Litisargi were also arrested. “They have been forwarded to court,” a senior police official said. Soon after the question paper went viral on social media on Friday, the Board of Secondary Education had ordered a probe and suspended 11 officials.
