Ranchi: The and department directed its executive and superintendent engineers across all the 24 districts to set up control rooms at circle and block levels to receive complaints of during summer. These offices will begin operations from Thursday and will remain open from 8am to 8pm on all days of week. Talking to TOI, secretary of the department said: “Every year, such helplines are made operational only after the onset of summer. We are beginning the process much earlier this year, so that the defunct sources are identified before summer sets in.”

The department has instructed district and block-level officials to ensure that all numbers, including the helplines, are shared with the citizens at the earliest. “The goal is to identify defunct water sources. The engineers have also been instructed to conduct weekly ground surveys to assess the situation,” Patnaik added.
