Rajkot: Minister for animal husbandry minister Kunvarji Bavalia said on Friday that the newly constructed horse breeding centre at Hingolgadh will be inaugurated in a week.
This centre has been established with the aim of conserving Kathiawari and Marwadi horse breeds.
Hingolgadh is around 60 km from Rajkot near Jasdan.
Bavalia made the announcement at the inauguration of horse show organized by animal husbandry department and Kathiawari horse breeders association in Jasdan. There are nearly 18,000 horses in Gujarat. The minister said that similar horse shows will be organized in Ahmedabad next week and thereafter in Amreli.
President of association Ghanshyamji Maharaj said, “If proper steps for breeding and conservation are undertaken, Kathiawari horses can help earn crores.”
