MANGALURU: The stretch between and in the city will be named ‘Sri Gokarnanatheshwara Temple Road’. A proposal in this regard will be submitted by City Corporation to the government for approval.

The corporation took this decision at a council meet since temple, popularly known as Kudroli temple, is located in the area. In fact, a request to name the road after Kudroli temple was made by M Nagesh, a nominated member of MCC. Though a decision to rename the road was taken on September 28 last year itself, a council meeting held on Thursday resolved to send the proposal to the government for approval.

Similarly, the council also decided to write to the government seeking approval to name a road in Kadri as ‘Dr K R Kamath Road’. Chief whip Shashidhar Hegde said the city corporation had invited suggestions and objections, if any, through advertisements. “We have not received any objections to the proposal. Hence, we have decided to write to the government for approval,” he said.
