GHAZIABAD: The Development Authority (GDA) is planning to develop a riverfront along the banks of the in the city forest area.
The development agency will shortly appoint a consultant, possibly from or an IIT to prepare a detailed project report. The plan will be executed after that.
“We are planning to develop the Hindon riverfront in the city forest area on the lines of the Gomati riverfront. We will soon be appointing consultants for the job,” said Kanchan Verma, vice-chairperson at the GDA. “The scale of the Hindon riverfront will not be as large as the Gomati riverfront but we are planning to develop it between a 2km and 4km stretch” added Verma. The city forest area, which is spread in an area of 150 acres along the , is considered Ghaziabad’s green lungs and is visited by thousands of residents every day. The GDA has been trying for long to introduce new themes, which include sound and light show and musical water fountain. Apart from the riverfront, the GDA has also planned to introduce toy trains in the city forest area. “We have got permission from the state government to operate toy trains in the city forest, which we think will be a big draw for revellers and residents,” said Verma.
