NOIDA: Two women, hired for work at a house in Sector 55, stole Rs 15 lakh and fled on Monday.
The incident took place at the house of Sagar Bhandari, , when at least four from his family were present in the house.
According to police, the women first entered the house and told Sagar’s mother that they were sent by the security guard regarding the requirement of maids.
Sagar told TOI that the women entered the area and went on asking for work in different houses as the guard was missing from his usual spot.
The police said that the two women went into the house around 9:40am on Monday. Since the family’s had not been turning up for work for the past two days, Sagar’s mother agreed to keep the women as helps in the house. “They did not seek any identity card nor did they get any verification done,” a police officer said.
After pretending to have started working in the house, the women allegedly opened an almirah to a brief case containing the cash, police said. Sagar claimed that they went out saying that they would return soon.
Sagar realised the missing cash when we was getting ready to go to work. He found the almirah and lockers broken.
Pankaj Rai, SHO (Sector 58) said that at least Rs. 15 lakh worth of cash was allegedly kept in the briefcase that has been stolen.
An FIR was registered against the unknown women. “We are checking the CCTV camera footages to identify the accused,” he said.
